2021: Southwest Airlines' number of enplaned passengers in 2021 grew to 123.264 million compared to 67.785 million in 2020. The number of trips flown by the airlines company grew to 1,066,934 in 2021 compared to 897,540 in 2020. Its number of seats flown grew to 165.58 million in 2021 compared to 137.4 million in 2020. Its average passenger fare remained flat in 2021 at $141.92 ($141.72 in 2020).

The number of passengers carried by Southwest Airlines, one of the leading airlines companies based in the United States, declined heavily caused mainly by the pandemic. The number of enplaned passengers declined to 67.785 million in 2020 compared to 162.681 million in 2019.

 In 2018, the number of passengers carried by Southwest Airlines (enplaned passengers) reached 163.6 million compared to 157.67 million last year. Southwest was the largest domestic carrier in the US based upon the number of passengers carried in 2018. The company generated $21.97 billion in revenue in 2018 and net income of $2.47 billion.
