UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual serves employers ranging from sole proprietorships to large, multi-site and national employers, public sector employers and individual consumers. UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement offers health and well-being benefits for Medicare beneficiaries and retirees. UnitedHealthcare Community & State manages health care benefit programs on behalf of state Medicaid and community programs and their participants. UnitedHealthcare Global includes the provision of health and dental benefits and hospital and clinical services to employer groups and individuals in South America, and other diversified global health businesses.

Through UnitedHealthcare and Optum, in 2018, the company processed more than three-quarters of a trillion dollars in gross billed charges and  managed more than $250 billion in aggregate health care spending on behalf of the customers and consumers it serves.
