Q4 2022: Apple spent around $1 billion more on research and development in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of the prior year. In the fourth quarter of 2022, its R&D expenses reached $6.8 billion compared to $5.8 billion in the same quarter of the prior year. The company spent total $26,251 million on R&D in 2022 compared to $21,914 million in 2021.

Q2 2022: Apple spent $6,387 million on research and development in q2 2022 compared to $5,262 million in q2 2021. The company spent $12,693 million in H1 2022 on research and development compared to $10,425 million in H1 2021.

Q2 2021: The quarterly research and development expenses of Apple increased to $6.3 billion in 2022 q1 compared to $5.16 billion in the first quarter of 2021.
